Wind TriangleThis is designed to be used as a standalone calculator to help speed up creation of PLOGS. It basically allows you to avoid having to use medieval manual logarithmic computers. Simply enter the values for any leg of your journey and hit CALC. Note that negative headings calculated by Pilot Plan (eg -4 degrees) mean that you should take the 360 degress in a circle and remove (in this case) 4 degrees, giving a heading calculated of 354 degrees. Also remember this calculator doesn't adjust for mag deviation - this could be significant depending on where you live (usually if you live near the poles it's stronger) You should take the calculated output and adjust for magnetic deviation in your PLOG. |
ConversionsUse this to quickly convert between values.
It's useful where half of the aircraft's manual and schedules seem to list values in lbs / US gallons and the other half (for some obscure reason) is in KG and litres and you're expected to mix and match values. Convert all your numbers (eg fuel gallons, weight in lbs etc) into one system (litres & kg's) by using this first. Jot those numbers down and then return to the 'FUEL' step and walk through the app as normal. Later versions of Pilot Plan will probably do this for your automatically when I get round to upgrading it. |
